Bruce touches up the paint before we lay the decking

A new tool is tested. Pneumatic ballast tamper.

Mike and Russ are now ready to start laying the deck on the installed sections of the bridge.

Kevin, Russ and Bob brought load after load of ballast up to the loop until the hopper was empty. A pneumatic paint scraper (from Harbor Freight) is being put to use as a ballast tamper. Tamping ballast is an important but boring and arm tweaking task. Tom had seen this technique of tamping employed at GGLS and proposed we purchase the tool.

Carl, Tom, and Bill continued to weld pieces to the final arch. We are trying to get the final sections of the bridge in place before it gets muddy up there.
